Preventive Maintenance
Long-term machine performance can be directly linked to preventive maintenance and parts service. Routine inspections and proper maintenance are the fundamental necessities towards keeping your blast equipment running efficiently. Our service technicians are not only capable of conducting an on-site inspection, but can also help our customers create a maintenance schedule based on specific operating conditions.
Operator knowledge
Not only the correct operation of the machines is important. It is also critical to assure proper maintenance. Disa educates its customers during training and via manuals on how to conduct essential maintenance. New operators learn the basics of maintenance the first time they start using the machines.Ease of maintenance is critical for blasting machines which require additional maintenance than more traditional structural machinery. The Disa was designed with maintenance in mind. With the purpose to blast away profile imperfections, such as rust and scale, the machine needs easy access for maintenance purposes.
Periodic check-ups
Disa recommends periodic preventive maintenance check-ups by experienced Disa engineers. These check-ups are conducted based on knowledge, experience and measurements. The maintenance module in the Customer Services contract enables customers to let Disa take care of the planning of these check-ups. This way our customers can focus on their core business.
Safety Knowledge Q&A for Disa Shot Blasting Machine Operation
Q1:What needs to be done when starting to repair and maintain the shot blasting machine?
A: Before opening the protective door or inspection door of the shot blasting machine or removing the protective device, the main switch should be turned off to "0" and it should be ensured that the switch will not be operated accidentally. At the same time, a warning sign should be hung to indicate that the work is in progress.
Q2:What are the safety protection requirements when working on and around the shot blasting machine?
A: Due to the danger of shot materials, sharp burrs and flashings flying out and hurting people, safety goggles and helmets should always be worn.
Q3:What are the conditions for starting the shot blasting machine?
A: Before closing any door, ensure that no one is inside the shot blasting machine. The shot blasting machine is only allowed to be started when there is no one in the chamber and starting the machine will not pose a danger to people.
Q4:What is the function of the emergency stop button and in what situations should it be used?
A: When the emergency stop button is pressed, all shot blasting machines will be immediately cut off from the power supply and the belt conveyor will be stopped. When there are signs of danger such as a threat to the life and limbs of the operator or a risk of damage to the shot blasting machine, the emergency stop button should be pressed immediately.
Q5:What is the function of the safety switch on the housing cover of the shot blasting wheel?
A: Activating this safety switch will urgently stop the shot blasting wheel drive, resulting in the shutdown of the entire shot blasting machine and the stop of material feeding. The shot blasting wheel must be equipped with a suitable housing cover and feed pipe before it can operate.
Q6:What are the dangers of the chamber wall of the shot blasting chamber and the materials hit by the shot materials, and how to protect against them?
A: The chamber wall of the shot blasting chamber and the materials hit by the shot materials will become very hot. Touching them may cause burns. Protective gloves must always be worn, and other work can only be carried out after the components have cooled down.
Q7:What are the dangers when the bucket elevator is running and how should they be prevented?
A: When the bucket elevator is running, there is a danger of being 卷入 (entangled) or being injured by the moving buckets. When operating this shot blasting machine, all open parts should be closed and properly bolted (maintenance covers, inspection hole covers and the top cover of the bucket elevator).
Q8:What are the dangers when transporting the parts of the shot blasting machine and how can they be avoided?
A: There is a danger that the load may fall and hurt people. It is prohibited to walk under the suspended objects, and only resources with sufficient bearing capacity should be used.
Q9:What are the dangers of the screw conveyor and how to prevent them?
A: The screw conveyor has the danger of being 卷入 (entangled) or being injured by the screw blades. The inspection cover must be fixed in place when the screw conveyor is running.
Q10:What are the requirements for the safety system?
A: The shot blasting machine is not allowed to be operated without a complete and effective safety system. The safety system should be regularly checked.
Q11:What are the dangers caused by shot materials on the floor and how to deal with them?
A: Since the shot materials on the floor may cause the danger of slipping, special safety work shoes should always be worn.
Q12:What are the safety key points when carrying out burning, grinding or welding work?
A: A fire extinguisher should be kept at hand. When starting any burning, grinding or welding work in the shot blasting machine, the dust collector must always be turned off and the surrounding flammable dust should be cleaned up.
Q13:What are the dangers when welding manganese steel materials and what should be noted?
A: Dangerous fumes will be generated during the welding of manganese steel materials. The rules of "working in confined spaces" in the accident prevention regulations should be especially observed.
Q14:What needs to be done after completing the adjustment, setting, maintenance and repair?
A: It must be ensured that all components of the safety system have been installed and are in full working order.
Q15:What are the safety hazards related to dust and the corresponding countermeasures?
A: According to the properties of the materials and the concentration of fine dust, all dust is flammable. All dust accumulation should be avoided, and the shot blasting machine, the dust collector with the duct system and the surrounding area should be regularly cleaned. The dust concentration must be measured, and explosion-proof measures should be taken when appropriate.
Q16:What are the requirements for the equipotential bonding wires when carrying out maintenance and inspection work on the shot blasting machine?
A: When all maintenance and inspection work on the shot blasting machine is completed, the correctness of the function of the equipotential bonding wires must be measured and checked.
Q17:What are the dangers of the cylinder on the shot material feed valve and the rotating device in the rotating metal plate, and how to prevent them?
A: The cylinder on the shot material feed valve and the rotating device in the rotating metal plate have the danger of squeezing people. The shot blasting machine can only be operated after components such as the protective device installed on the pneumatic cylinder body, the rubber cover installed on the side, and the rubber ring installed on the repair door are properly fixed.
Q18:What are the dangers of the vibrating feeder and how to avoid them?
A: The vibrating components on the vibrating feeder have the danger of squeezing people. Keep a certain distance from the dangerous area, especially the vibrating feeder. It is prohibited to approach the vibrating feeder, as there is a danger of injury and falling.
Q19:What are the dangers when cleaning workpieces containing quartz sand and how to prevent them?
A: When cleaning workpieces containing quartz sand, the high concentration of quartz dust formed over a long period of time will damage the lungs. A sufficient air flow for suction must always be maintained, and the quartz dust concentration should be measured during operation. If the concentration is higher than the national permitted standard, corresponding protective measures should be taken.
Q20:What needs to be done before opening the protective door, inspection door or moving the protective cover?
A: Set the main switch to "0" and ensure that the switch will not be operated accidentally. In addition, a warning sign should be hung to indicate that the work is in progress.
Q21:What are the dangers of the magnetic separator and how to prevent them?
A: The rotating magnetic drum in the magnetic separator has the danger of entangling people or injuring the body. It is strictly prohibited to put hands near the rotating magnetic drum. The magnetic drum has a strong magnetic field, which is deadly dangerous to people with pacemakers. It is strictly prohibited for such people to approach the magnetic separator under any circumstances, and there should always be a safe distance at any time.
